Tax planning
A meeting before the year ends to look at what is coming: a sale, a retirement, a growing business, a new child, and how to time it.

A tax return records what already happened. Planning is the chance to change what happens. A one-hour meeting in the autumn, with your numbers so far and what you expect for the rest of the year, can show what to do before December 31 and what to set aside for April.
What we look at
- A projection of this year's tax, so April holds no surprises.
- Retirement contributions: how much, which account and by when.
- The timing of income, big purchases and equipment for a business.
- Selling a home, a rental, stock or a business, and the federal and Washington taxes that may follow.
- Changes in the family: a marriage, a child, a parent you now support.
Written down
After the meeting you get a short written summary: what we found, what to do, by when, and roughly what it saves. When we prepare your return, the planning fee is credited to it.
This page is general information about US and Washington taxes, not tax advice for your situation. Tax rules change every year; a meeting is where we look at yours.
